Mastedon entstand aus den ex-Membern von KANSAS, John Elefante und seinem Brunder Dino in den 80er Jahren.
Im Jahre 1996 startete John Elefante eine Solo Karriere, aus welchem drei Alben hervorgingen.
Nun kehrt John Elefante zurück und mit "3" veröffentlichen Mastedon ein brandneues Album. Mit dabei sind Namen wie Kerry Livgren (Songwriter Kansas), Dave Amato (REO Speedwagon), Anthony Sallee (Whiteheart), Dan Needham (Michael McDonald, Neville Brothers, Amy Grant, Garth Brooks etc) und natürlich John's Bruder Dino Elefante.
